First 3D printed leg prothesis

Last week the first participant received a 3D printed lower leg prothesis. After 10 years he was able to do his first steps again.

The 3D lab in Masanga Hospital Sierra Leone has been expanded with a new Ultimaker S5. This larger sized printer creates the possibility to print lower leg prostheses. Using this technology we are able to print affordable prostheses in a sustainable way. Thanks to a battery back-up system we are able to print 24 hours a day without powerloss.

Next weeks we will continue with the research on lower leg protheses to improve the quality of life!
